Exploring Namhae Rice Terraced Fields - Gacheon Daraengi Village (가천 다랭이마을)

Ready to explore Namhae Rice Terraced Fields?

One of the characteristics of Namhae is its beautiful rice paddies, which are meticulously carved into the hillsides and create stunning, layered landscapes that change color with the seasons, offering a picturesque view that attracts photographers and nature lovers alike.

The most famous one which I visited is:

GACHEON DARAENGI VILLAGE (가천 다랭이마을)

The rice terraces are one of the top attractions when visiting Namhae island. If you feel the need to escape to a quiet and peaceful place, then you'll absolutely love Namhae. Daraengi Village is the perfect place to immerse yourself in nature.

There are numerous trails you can take that offer diverse views of the beautiful landscape. Among them, there is one that descends to the water. You can also wonder inside the village where there are lots of hidden restaurants and small cafes to enjoy the scenery and relaxing atmosphere.

The scenery will be different depending on the season, but whenever you go, it will always be stunning! I visited at the beginning of summer, and I absolutely loved the contrast of colors of the rice paddies and blue water, it is indeed beautiful!

I also stopped at one of the restaurants: 다랭이 밥상, located at the beginning of the trail, and I can say they had the best 부추전 (chives Korean pancakes) I've ever tried!

Restaurant address: 다랭이 밥상 - 845 Honghyeon-ri Nam-myeon Namhae-gun Gyeongsangnam-do (남면 홍현리 845 다랭이밥상)

Daraengi Village address: 840-2 Honghyeon-ri Nam-myeon Namhae-gun Gyeongsangnam-do (남면 홍현리 840-2 다랭이마을 제 1주차장)

How to get to Daraengi Village: From Namhae Bus Terminal (남해 공용터미널) to Gacheon Daraengi Village (가천 다랭이마을) by car/taxi it takes about 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can take the bus 남해-가천 to the village and get off at Gacheon Daraengi Village (가천 다랭이마을). The bus ride takes 1 and a half hour.
